Explorative Research & Foresight Foundations

  • Build a European community of practice bridging AI and sport
  • Conduct 164 interviews and focus groups to identify AI skills gaps and future challenges
  • Produce thematic briefing documents, online conferences and a synthesis report

  • Semi-structured interviews across performance, fan engagement and management
  • Two online public conferences to discuss preliminary findings

  • Develop cluster-based roadmaps addressing elite performance, mass participation and sport tech/analytics
  • Identify preferred future scenarios and strategic steps for innovation and sustainability

  • Involve 200+ learners, fostering peer-to-peer learning platforms
  • Link theory (AI, foresight) to real-world sport challenges

Methodology

The Strategic Foresight Approach

Unlike traditional planning, SF4Sport uses iterative scanning and backcasting to align current actions with long-term resilience goals. The approach is embedded in every work package — not a separate stream, but the default way the consortium reasons together.
